Not only did the double-bill launch become the largest Disney-branded television premiere of all time, but Deadline now reports that it has attracted more than 26 million views across its first three weeks of availability.
These are strong results for Disney Plus, which has struggled to find a breakout hit outside of its own established franchises – such as Marvel and Star Wars.
According to ratings analyst Nielsen, which presents data with a delay of several weeks, Percy Jackson was the fourth most-watched original streaming show in the United States on its launch week (behind Reacher, The Crown and My Life with the Walter Boys).

All this means that the show is in relatively good standing at the moment, but an attention-grabbing finale could be helpful in getting season 2 into production. Here's when you can expect the climactic episode.

How many episodes are in Percy Jackson and the Olympians?
There are eight episodes in the first season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
However, creator Rick Riordan is hoping that there will be many more to come, with both the novelist and his fans keen to see the entire saga adapted for the screen across multiple seasons.
Riordan previously told RadioTimes.com: "The idea, if we are lucky enough to have it come about, is that every season of the show would be one book in the series, so season 2 would be The Sea of Monsters and et cetera.

"We would go through all five books as five seasons. It's too early to say if we'll get that opportunity - that depends on how the show does."
Producer Rebecca Riordan added: "Hopefully we get all five seasons, right?" with Rick responding: "That would be amazing."
Disney Plus is yet to announce whether Percy Jackson and the Olympians will get a season 2.
