“The Prophecy Comes True” is the final episode of season 1 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. It wraps up the season perfectly but also sets up things for future seasons. The show has been a wonderful adaptation that hopefully gets many more seasons. This episode is by far the most emotional one, not only for the moments within the episode but because this was also the final appearance of the late Lance Reddick.

The final episode had a lot it had to wrap up. First, Percy had to fight Ares. Now fighting the literal God of War is never a good idea, but when the God isn’t too smart and pushes the son of Poseidon into a puddle of water, the fight turns out to be a bit easier, with the sea on your side. After their duel, Hades’ helm appears. The trio however does not have to worry about travelling back to the Underworld, as Hades has sent someone to retrieve it. Percy then decides to travel to Mount Olympus to return the Master Bolt to Zeus, even though they missed the deadline. Annabeth warned him that Zeus won’t want him there, and won’t be too kind about it either. Percy being Percy doesn’t care, and travels to the Empire State Building anyway to confront Zeus. The meeting goes about as well as you’d expect, but Percy finally gets to meet his father, and the reunion is bittersweet. After avoiding a war among the Gods, he is sent back to Camp Half-Blood. It is not a time for celebrating, however, as Percy puts the rest of the prophecy together, and realizes who the real lightning thief is. The trio goes their separate ways for the summer, hoping to reunite the following year.

A Behind-The-Scenes Look At The ‘Percy Jackson’ Series

'Percy Jackson And The Olympians' Episode 8 Finale Spoiler-Free Review — CultureSlate (3)

Fans should remember that this has been an adaptation. It is not going to be word for word from the book and that is okay. Author Rick Riordan has been involved in the series, and has approved the changes that have been made. It kept the series exciting, and new for all fans. The changes made, both big and small, all worked out in the end. The best changes have been the flashback sequences, something not seen in the books. We saw more of these in this final episode, and they were a great addition that helped flesh out the story even more.

The late Lance Reddick was incredible as Zeus. His presence took up the entire scene and was the perfect Zeus. Unfortunately, he passed away too soon, and we were robbed of seeing him as Zeus again in the future. I am glad for the scene we got with him as Zeus because he killed it like everything else he was in. The kids who got cast to play the main three have done such a wonderful job embodying their characters, that I look at these characters in a new way now. They should be extremely proud of themselves as well because they did such a great job.

New fans, and fans of the book alike will both be shocked by the reveal at the end, at least I was and I knew who did it. The music score was also incredible and did a great job of fitting the tone of the series. Mount Olympus was gorgeous, massive, and nothing like I pictured it. I hope we get a season 2 announcement very soon because I cannot wait to see Sea Of Monsters adapted correctly on screen.
